STEVE BENDER Steve Bender is a Senior Writer for Southern Living and has been with the magazine since 1983. He received a B.A. in History from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and a certificate in Ornamental Horticulture from the Institute of Applied Agriculture at the University of Maryland. He is a popular speaker and gives talks on a wide variety of gardening topics all over the country. His articles in Southern Living, which often poke fun at the foibles of gardeners, have won many writing awards. |

Sunday, September 30 Creating schoolyard habitat gardens, low-maintenance landscape designs for commercial and residential clients, speaking at gardening conferences and on radio and television, Cherie - a professional landscape designer - also writes about gardening. With award winning books for adults and children as well as over 75 articles for magazines and newspapers, she spends her spare time working alongside her husband in their certified National Wildlife Foundation Habitat garden in The Woodlands, Texas and singing in a Gospel trio. Saturday, October 6 Robert “Buddy” Lee, the inventor of Encore® Azalea, the world’s best-selling reblooming azalea, has more than 30 years’ experience in breeding, propagation, and new plant development. Buddy currently serves as Director of Plant Innovations for Plant Development Services, the introducers of Encore Azalea, the Southern Living® Plant Collection, and the new Sunset Western Garden Collection. Buddy has been active in numerous horticultural groups and presently serves on the board of the International Plant Propagators Society and of the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association. He is past president of The Azalea Society of America.

ADA LOVE Ada Love has over 26 years of diversified builder, developer, and real estate marketing experience. While working for one of the largest residential developers in the South, she was noticed and offered a position with Southern Progress Corporation, publishers of Southern Living, Coastal Living, Cooking Light, Sunset, and Health. As Builder Programs Manager, Ada implemented not only the Lowes Show Home program and Custom Builder program, but also gained the attention of the Southern Living editorial staff, advertisers, developers and other builders. Today, her passion for all things home and garden continues in her role as President of Get More Curb Appeal, a dynamic online exterior makeover and landscape design service that offers can-do ideas for homeowners and builders alike. |

Saturday, October 20 Chris Wiesinger set out to recapture something that was once “lost” to the Southern gardener: bulbs that thrive in warm climates many of which are rare, heirloom or both. He founded The Southern Bulb Company to share his finds with the world. |

He serves as Consulting Editor and Author for Neil Sperry’s GARDENS magazine, writes a monthly e-newsletter column entitled “Native Son,” and is the Roving Reporter for the gardening television show, Dig In DFW.
