Educational Demonstrations
The State Fair of Texas offers many great demonstrations throughout the fair for the purpose of agricultural education and entertainment. Below are descriptions of the demonstrations offered in the livestock area. |
DALLAS MOUNTED POLICE UNIT is housed in the Pan American barn at the fairgrounds year around. Due to the daily routines involved with the care and upkeep of the horses, fair time barn visitation times vary but are usually accessible most days in the mid afternoon and early evening hours. When open for visitation, officers will be there to meet and greet fairgoers and to answer your questions. Equine demonstrations will also be provided on Thursdays at 3 pm in the ranch arena. FREE.
MILKING PARLOR Watch and learn as cows from nearby farms demonstrate modern procedures in themilking parlor. Daily shows.Sponsored by Southwest Dairy Museum. FREE.
SPIRIT OF THE HORSE “Neigh”-sayers! Equine expert Robert Liner demonstrates his methods of communicating with and training horses daily (except Thursdays) in the Ranch Arena at 1, 2, 3 & 5 p.m. FREE.
CRITTER FITTER is a demonstration of what is going on in the barns around you. Animals must be “fitted” with a haircut and a bath before being sent into the show ring and at this demonstration, located inside Big Tex’s Barnyard, we explain exactly what this entails. Demonstrations are daily at 11am 1 pm 3 pm 5 pm. FREE.
