At Fair-time, the Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly House and Insectarium at Texas Discovery Gardens offers daily events: a butterfly release at noon + Monarch tagging demos at 1 p.m. & 3 p.m. Admission charged. The state's first public garden to be certified 100% organic, TDG offers a native wildlife pond, scent garden, shade garden & heirloom garden free of charge. |

Train enthusiasts, take note: See 1942's towering #4018 Big Boy and two legendary Union Pacific "work-horses" at the Museum of the American Railroad. Includes more than 30 pieces of historic equipment, including a steam calliope, whistle display and a special, Fair-time exhibit. Admission charged. |

Enjoy American history memorabilia at the Continental DAR House, featuring exhibits, artifacts, flag displays, patriotic videos and music. The New Andrews Sisters perform on Saturdays and Thursdays at noon. Operating hours to be announced.

State Fair visitors get the first opportunity to enjoy the greatest hits of the sea at the newly renovated Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park. Kids will love viewing sharks, jellyfish, eels, rays, piranhas, turtles, clown fish + other species from popular movies and books. The outdoor pavilion includes Stingray Bay. Daily feeding demos are also scheduled. Admission charged. |

The African American Museum is the only one of its kind in the Southwestern Region devoted to the preservation and display of African American artistic, cultural and historical materials. It has one of the largest African American Folk Art collections in the United States. Free with your admission to the State Fair of Texas. |

Native sons killed or MIA are commemorated at the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The inscriptions include Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. Located in a contemplative spot near the front gates. |
