Heritage Hall Of Honor

FOUNDER - Roy C. Coffee, Jr.

The Texas Heritage Hall of Honor is a testament to the vision and commitment of Roy C. Coffee, Jr. In 1992, Coffee presented an idea to his fellow State Fair of Texas board members. He wanted to recognize men and women who had made significant lifetime contributions to Texas livestock and agriculture. The board enthusiastically supported this concept and asked Coffee to chair a committee to develop a slate of worthwhile nominees and, from this list, select the 11 individuals who would be the first recipients. Roy and his wife, Janis, also chaired the inaugural Great State Fair of Texas Gala, which honored the new members of the Texas Heritage Hall of Honor and raised thousands of dollars for State Fair Scholarships.

Roy Coffee is a practicing attorney with the firm of Coffee & Coffee in Dallas. In 1972-73, he served as administrative assistant to Governor Dolph Briscoe, for whom he later became legal counsel. He served as mayor of University Park from 1976-82, and the Coffee family has been actively involved in the ranching business in Texas and New Mexico for many years.

The Coffees reside in Dallas, Texas and Rancho de Taos, New Mexico. They have two sons, Roy III and Robert Clayton.
