State Fair landscapers provide year-round beauty in Fair Park
The State Fair Fall Garden Exhibition was a good idea in 2002 that’s only gotten better. Originally a professional landscaping contest during the 24-day run of the Fair, today it's not uncommon for participants to maintain their completed beds year-round.
Six years ago, eight landscaping firms vied for the championship trophy. These days, the Garden Exhibition attracts more than 50 companies tending 100 beds. Bragging rights and unmatchable exposure are incentives for the companies, plus their work offers a living example of how guests can tackle their own green spaces.
McKinney-based Weiscz Selection picked up Best of Show and Best Hardscape in 2007; Moonflower Gardens won Best Plant Selection award; and Most Unique honors went to Blue Moon Gardens.
